Grey flint with thick re-formed cortex, probable scraper. Small thick irregular chunk with a smooth ?dorsal side and a flat ?ventral surface where cortex has re-formed. Milky patina extends over part of the dorsal side, suggesting its exposure to a calcareous environment. Angled scalar retouch executed from the dorsal aspect trims part of this patina along a curved edge opposite a flat thick butt, while the opposite longer edge bears two smoothed zones perhaps arising from a hinge fracture. Probably re-used debitage. Suggested date: possibly Early Bronze Age, 2350-1600 BC Length:…

Grey flint with cortex strip, debitage. Sub-rectangular flake with broad flakes struck from its dorsal side and with a prominent bulb on its ventral surface. Short abrupt retouch executed from the ventral aspect may trim the bulb. The lack of subsequent patination may hint that the object was subsequently incorporated into a sealed deposit. Pale buff translucent flint possible debitage. Thin flake, perhaps originally of rhomboid form, with broad flakes struck from its dorsal side and with a very slightly concave ventral surface. An alternative identification as a fragment of a later Neolithic arrowhead might also be considered. Suggested date: Neolithic, 4000-2350 BC. Grey brown flint with cortex, core. A small chunk bearing broad and narrow scars from multangular working; as traces of patina remain between struck faces this may have entailed reuse of a discarded core. The lack of subsequent patination may hint that the object was subsequently incorporated into a sealed deposit. Black flint with re-formed cortex spot, scraper. Thick oval flake with broad flakes struck from its dorsal side by hard hammer, leaving rippled surfaces and affording a thumb rest. A bulb appears at the narrower end of a slightly concave ventral surface. Angled scalar retouch executed from the dorsal aspect follows one long side and the rounded broader end. Light battering, revealed by scalar edge-on scars on the ventral surface, appears along the remaining long edge. Grey-buff flint scraper fragment. Oval flake with broad flakes struck from its dorsal side and with a bulb [now] at one corner of its ventral surface. Short abrupt retouch executed from the dorsal aspect follows a curving edge; the object is broken longitudinally near its midpoint. Misty patina extends across all exposed surfaces, showing that this breakage occurred in antiquity, and that the object was subsequently exposed to a calcareous environment. Grey-brown flint possible debitage. A small thick flake with a broad flake struck from its dorsal side and a bulbar ventral surface. A couple of drafts of short abrupt retouch executed from the ventral aspect appear to have preceded breakage. A curving still-sharp edge with smooth surfaces to either side might alternatively suggest this to come from the broken cutting edge of a larger lentoid-section implement.
