Object type: SCRAPER (TOOL)
Broad period: UNKNOWN
County: Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A pebble sized piece of flint that has probably been worked to form a scraper tool. No strike platform, pimple or bulb of percussion is visible and the 'cloudy' grey flint has impurities that would have made knapping difficult to control however retouching seems to be present along just less than half of the flint's edge. Possibly later prehistoric knapping technology. Weight is 6.68g, length is 28.55mm, width is 23.49mm and thickness is 10.69mm.

Secondary flint flake, possibly scraper. The striking platform has a length of 23.7mm and width of 7.6mm. A point of percussion is present as is a bulb of percussion below, probably the result of soft hammer production. The area of slight conchoidal fracture occupies approximately just over half of the height of this side of the flake, probably terminating in a hinge fracture seen as an abrupt narrow ledge. Other irregular fracturing is present below, possibly including some that terminate in slight hinge fractures, as well as tiny fractures near to the edge possibly accidentally o…
