Lead alloy coin. An unusual variant of sceat; perhaps associated with the manufacture and distribution of fake Iron Age and Anglo-Saxon coins. These are thought to be made in the Grimsby area and are distributed in areas frequented by metal-detector users across northern parts of Lincolnshire. A circular flan of diameter 10.6mm, from its reverse cast onto a smooth flat surface, appears to have been struck by a smaller die with a protruding outer edge, forming a uniface 'coin' of diameter 8.6mm standing proud of the flan.
