Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Copper alloy figurine. Pressed metal naturalistically rendered concavo-convex skull, of a narrow and elongated form possibly emphasised by light squashing. Traces of black coating appear on the dome of the skull, perhaps polished by wear against clothing. The black coating may hint at a later date in the available range. Suggested date: Late Medieval to Post-Medieval, 1350-1700

Silver gilt pilgrim badge. A circular plate bearing the framed image of the Virgin and Child, the Virgin crowned and with sceptre and the Child haloed, viewed against a cross-hatched ground within a cabled inner border, a gutter, and an outer frame which is externally lined. A probably integrally cast D-section bar passes behind the image and across its flat plain back and is broken at the site of a sharp curve. Gilded overall, chipped. Ceramic building material. Buff reduced fabric with occasional calcareous inclusions [rock] to length 4mm. Handmade roof tile fragment with one straight edge, and with the imprints of a sanded surface on its underside where the green or unfired tile was laid, and either glaze or vitrification traces on the smoothed upper surface.
