One sherd of coarseware pottery. A reduced grey-brown to buff fabric with frequent large pieces of grog (up to 6mm) and occasional flint pieces. The Vessel is hand made and thgick walled. A rim from a storage jar. A shouldered vessel with a short upright rim, rounded at the top. The surfaces are wiped, with regular girth lines indicating wheel finishing. Probably late Roman grog tempered coarseware. Date: Late Roman - AD 275 - 410 Weight: 83.5 g

One sherd of coarseware pottery. A hard sand tempered fabric with a reduced dark grey core and brownish margins. The surface is black and finely burnished to a silky finish. A large piece of a flanged bowl with a flat base and sloping sides. The flange is flush with the rim of the vessel. A wheel turned vessel. This is most probably Black Burnished ware 2, produced at various sites around the Thames Estuary in the Roman period (see Tyers, P, 1996, "Roman Pottery in Britain", p 182). Date: Early Roman - c AD 100 -250 Weight: 249 g
