A silver post medieval sixpence of William III (AD 1694-1702) dated to AD 1696. Crowned cruciform shield reverse. Mint of London. The coin is worn and displays two sub-parallel straightned folds suggesting it may have been repurposed as a love token. Coins of William III were commonly converted into love tokens and this example has the characteristic S-shape.

Obverse: Bust left with rose behind and legend - EL[IZABETH DG] ANG FR ET HIB REG. Reverse: Square shield with cross fourchee and legend - POSVI DEU ADIVTOREM MEV. Date above. The coin had been folded into a right-angle, along which it has nearly broken. Diameter: 25.9mm; thickness: 0.9mm, weight: 2.0g.
