A post-medieval cast copper-alloy rotary key, probably for a casket, c.1500-1600. The key has a kidney shaped bow, (24.8x16.1x2.5mm), with two internal triangular projections into the bow, formed by the frame of the bow, with a small gap of 3.3mm between them. They sit either side of, and on top of the solid stem, which is circular in cross section. At this point the stem is 6.3mm wide, approx. 5.1mm below this it broadens out into a collar of approx. 8.8mm wide and 7.4mm deep.
