A small flint bladelet core of later Neolithic date struck from a mottled grey flint. The core is conical with a single striking platforms which is poorly prepared or defined and a bulbar scar is evident on this platform where the core was removed as a thick flake from its original nodule. Pale grey flint core. A small irregular chunk with scars from multangular flake removal. A creamy patina across all struck surfaces suggests the object has subsequently endured a period of exposure to a calcareous environment, and iron-spotting may suggest its incorporation in gravel. As the find-spot is not on chalk the patina may hint that it has been imported. Suggested date: Neolithic, 4000-2350 BC

Flint pebble with cortex, core. A chunk with broad parallel flakes detached by unidirectional working from a flat striking platform. A dense creamy patina across all struck surfaces suggests the object has subsequently endured a period of exposure to a calcareous environment, and iron-spotting may suggest its incorporation in gravel. As the find-spot is not on chalk the patina may hint that it has been imported. Suggested date: Neolithic, 4000-2350 BC

A flint core of probable Neolithic date 4000 BC - 2200 BC. It is a patinated tertiary chunk which is piriform in plan and D shaped in cross-section. It is an irregular core with two striking platforms at right angles to each other. One is at the pointed distal end. The other is the flat ventral face from which the removals forming the rounded proximal end have been worked. The core produced flakes. There is later damage on the ventral face where accidental removals have revealed an iron rich orange colour under the patinated white surface. The core is 58.3mm long, 47.4mm wide…

Small bifacial core, of impressively patinated black flint with lighter grey inclusions, now light misty grey to one face; the other is mottled brown, both faces have a few rusty iron scrapes. All flake scars are small, but broad and appear to be hard hammer struck. Neolithic to Bronze Age, 4,000 to 700 BC.

Possible core rejuvenation flake. At the top of the dorsal is remnants of a prepared platform with multiple short, direct flaking scars. The rest of the surface is covered in a long, thin flaking scars that have been removed from one angle, the ventral side has a large bulb of percussion. The flint has a dark grey colour with 20% cortex at the base.

A crude keeled core made on Portland chert, dating to the Neolithic period, c. 4000-2350 BC. Made on a secondary flake with minimal cortex remaining on the dorsal face. The Portland chert is dark grey to black in colour with a medium gloss patina. The flake is D-shape in plan. There is a small conchoidal fracture at the proximal end of the dorsal surface. The dorsal side is convex and the ventral face is fairly flat, creating a trapezoidal profile. There is a large hinge fracture on the ventral surface. There are large fl…
