A fragment of a Neolithic polished axe of Group VI Great Langdale volcanic tuff dating to c. 4000 - 2200 BC. Only the cutting edge portion has survived and it is sub-rectangular in form and pointed oval in cross-section. The cutting edge has been reworked with a smoothed lateral facet or is very worn. The axe thickens towards the truncated end and there is some damage to the surviving lengths. A Neolithic Greenstone axe presumed to be of Group VI (6), a product of the Langdale Pike axe factory. This example is an edge-polished flint axe, limited polishing it typical of the late Neolithic. A near-complete flint barbed and tanged arrowhead dating to the late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age. The arrowhead has covering, scaled, low angle retouch all over and is missing only the terminal of the shank and of one of the barbs. The flint is mottled grey with a cream-blue patina. Arrowheads of this type were in use during the "Beaker Period" of the Late (final) Neolithic to Early Bronze Age, 2,300 to 1,700 BC.
