The sherd is a body sherd with a single thumbed impression remaining as decoration. The fabric has a varied shaded red/brown coloured exterior surface, the interior surface is black, and the core is a dark grey colour. The fabric has white coloured inclusions, which are not shelly. The inclusions are quite large and moderately distributed. There are also large voids on the surfaces. The fabric is soft. The sherd probably dates to the late Bronze Age to early Iron Age period (-1150 to -300).

Pottery rim sherd with a flat, flanged rim and decorated with five vertical thumbnail impressions on the exterior of the body, running along the width of the sherd, between the rim and the shoulder. The surface and core of the sherd have been oxidised to an orangey red colour. The interior surface of the sherd has been wiped, probably before reaching the 'leather-hard' stage while drying, in order to remove surface condensation. The fabric looks, from macroscopic investigation, to have mica, white feldspar, quartz and slate inclusions, which is typical fo…

In 1984 a Founders Hoard of late Bronze Age metal work was unearthed. The Hoard consisted of eight objects. Two of the objects join together to form what could be part of a bronze bowl or caldron; however the piece could simply be a fragment of metal working debris. The Hoard consists of the following: 1) A fragment of a socketed axe SUSS-8F4D33 (found within the metal detectorists collection - it was not kept with the rest of the hoard, but is likely to be from the same find site, the detectorist is deceased). 2) Two fragments of a bronze bowl or caldron or possibly metal workin…

A collection of six sherds of pottery, weighing 38g. The collection has sand and flint tempering, and some of the sherds have been tempered with chalk. This collection is largely undiagnostic as the sherds could date from the Bronze Age, Roman or Saxo-Norman periods.
