A rim and wall sherd from a cast copper-alloy tool or vessel, probably of the Bronze Age (c. 1500-800 BC). The rim is crescentric and flat. Below is a portion of wall with three uneven breaks. There is no decoration on the interior or exterior surfaces. The patina is dark green in colour, including on the break. The fragment is very worn and pitted. The fragment measures 32.5mm long, 14.8mm wide, 2.6mm thick and weighs 7.21 grams.

Twenty fragments of a Middle or Late Bronze Age copper alloy cauldron, consisting of at least two cast staples and one or two ring handles. Recovered in four groups (items 1 - 10, 11 - 16, 17 - 19 & 20 - 21) with NGRs recorded for each find spot, but association between NGR and individual objects not retained except for nos. 1, 15 and 16. All the fragments are highly corroded. Handle 1: Three re-fitting fragments of cast copper alloy ring (two fragments from group 11 - 14, one fragment from group 2 - 10). The section varies from circular (9mm diameter) to oval (12 x 11 mm). Origina…

A cast copper alloy loop probably from a bucket or cauldron of Bronze Age date. It looks too rounded to be a loop from a socketed axehead. Also axeheads with loops were cast in one piece whereas this looks as if it had been soldered on. The loop is D-shaped in section and 6.74mm thick. The object is 23.74mm long and 18.94mm wide and weights 19g. It would have held a handle for the sheet copper alloy vessel. cf Langmaid 1976, 'Bronze Age Metalwork in England and Wales', page 58, no. 24.

Rim fragment of cu-alloy sheet vessel, possibly a bowl. The date is difficult to determine because riveted bronze sheet vessels have been known since the Late Bronze Age and Norfolk is rich in Bronze Age metalwork. However, the vessel could also date from the IA, Roman or Medieval Ages. The rim of the vessel was made from two layers of bronze sheet, held together by rivets, two of which are still in place. The double layer of sheet metal around the rim probably served as enforcement. A parallel for this piece comes from the Late Bronze/Early Iron Age settlement of Potterne, Wilts. (Law…
