A fragment from a copper-alloy socketed axehead of Bronze Age date. Only the socket end of the axe remains, and it has post-depositional damage. It is broadly trapezoidal in shape, and is hollow. At the socket end the rim in thickened. Along one outer edge is the remains of a longitudinal casting seam.There is a similar example recorded on the PAS database (SF-CA59D7). This socket measures 43.02mm in length, 47.15mm in width, 4.77m in thickness, 47.86g in weight.

Cast copper alloy axe-head with a crescentic cutting edge, a plain body with slightly concave upper and lower sides and a sub-rectangular socket measuring 32.7mm in height and 28.4mm in width [externally]. A single loop of length 23.5mm is set on one side on the mould line at a distance of 9.5mm from the socket. A fragment of a cast copper alloy socketed axe dating to the late Bronze Age  (1100 BC - 800 BC), comprising a corner of the socket. The profile of the socket appears subrectangular and is surrounded by a thick rim with a moulded collar 9.6mm thick which has a triangular cross section. A side loop, 19mm in length, is present on the remaining portion of the side of the axehead and there is a visible casting seam running along it, from the rim to the break.

A copper alloy late Bronze Age socketed axehead dating from about 1140 BC - 1000 BC. It is a type Fulford socketed axe. The axe is sub-rectangular in plan and wedge-shaped in cross-section. It has a square socket with a moulded triple collar, wider at the top. The sides expand slightly, and then curve at the tips. The lower half and opposing side are lost to semi-worn irregular breaks. There is no evidence of a collar around the rectangular socket rim. The surviving portion of the axehead is 39.4mm in width and 47.5mm in length, comprising the front end which has a flared, semi circular blade, with rounded corners. There is no evidence of any decoration or casting seams. The break across the axehead reveals the interior to be hollow and the cross section to be of a sub rectangular shape.
