Fragment of Late Bronze Age scabbard chape, cast. A tapering hollow object, both ends missing. The two wide faces are concave on either side of a median arris. Length 40mm, maximum external width 15.5mm, maximum internal width 13.5mm. It is uncertain whether this of a short tongue or long tongue type (Colquhoun in Burgess and Coombs eds. 1979, 109, fig.4.7 nos. 119-21). c.950 – c.750 BC. A very similar fragment was found in Barton Bendish in 2004 (HER 17600).

A slightly corroded, damaged cast copper-alloy Late Bronze Age 'bag-shaped' dagger scabbard chape. The object has a rounded end, slightly flattened at the base perhaps through wear. The attachment end has suffered some losses but is broadly U-shaped after a removal, with a raised border. On each side are three punched ring-and-dot motifs in an arc aligned with the attachment end. These bear internal concentric rings as part of the production process. A cast copper-alloy Late Bronze Age 'bag-shaped' dagger scabbard chape. The object has a rounded end. Because it is abraded at the attachment end it is hard to discern whether or not the 'body' of the chape would have continued up with straight sides. There are six aligned circular perforations near the point of the old break, three on either side. A couple of these chapes are listed in O'Connor (1980, 190-191; ref. 161). They are associated with the 'carp's tongue complex' of south-east England and date to the Ewart Park metalworking phase.

Late Bronze Age scabbard chape, relating to the family of tongue-shaped chapes and dating to between 1100-800 BC. The chape would have fitted onto the end of a sword scabbard. The mouth of the chape is diamond shaped and this tapers to join a larger circular, flat terminal. About two thirds of the way down the chape are two small circular perforations on each side, possibly for riveting to the scabbard. The chape is undecorated and in good condition. The object weighs 46g and measures 64.46mm in length and 28.35mm in width (across the chape mouth).

Fragment of a late Bronze Age 'tongue' shaped scabbard chape. The surviving section is an elongated trapezoid in plan and it has a narrow hexagonal cross section.There is damage to both ends. There is a pronounced central rib running along the front and back face. It has a mid-green patina.The artefact is damaged, with recent damage seen on one face in the form of several dents revealing the copper colour below the patina.It is 69.89mm long, 27.40mm wide tapering to 17.69mm, and it is 10.27mm thick tapering to 9.63mm. The walls are 1.35mm thick. It weighs 33.69 grams.

A copper alloy apparent scabbard chape of uncertain date. Dot Boughton comments: The patina and shape doesn't quite fit in with Late Bronze Age bag-shaped chapes and is more likely a chape of unknown or post-med date. Other Bronze Age bag-shaped chapes are just a bit more pointed at the top and they are often decorated with a groove or moulding or mouth moulding or even punched circlets, but this example is very plain.

Cast copper alloy chape dating from the Late Bronze Age, that is c. 1000-800BC. The chape is related to the tongue-shaped chapes and is part of the Wilburton metalworking industry of the Late Bronze Age. It survives complete and in excellent condition. An incomplete copper-alloy object which is tentatively identified as a chape of late Bronze Age date (A.Macgregor, 1987, p. 110, no.1178 (similar)). The piece is sub-triangular and has a shallow, transverse recess of oval shape at the top. The object tapers towards the bottom where it is broken off. It measures 39mm long by 23.9mm wide and 8.4mm thick. It weighs 18.16g. The surfaces are heavily corroded.

A tinned copper alloy Bronze Age tongue-shaped scabbard chape dating to the period c. 1100 - 800 BC. The chape is triangular in shape with a sub-oval knop at the base. The mouth of the chape is lozengiform. The triangular body features a circular perforation through both sides of the body which retains a cylindrical copper alloy rivet, the terminals of which retain a substantial amount of tinning. The knop at the base features a rough sub-circular perforation as the result of old damage. The chape is hollow with a depth of c. 33.31mm. Cf. SWYOR-4A2F62 for a similar example.

A cast copper-alloy Late Bronze Age 'bag-shaped' dagger scabbard chape associated with the Carp's Tongue complex. On close examination, the chape is formed from a single sheet of copper alloy, beaten and folded over to form the bulbus crescent shape. A section of the back has been lost in antiquity, the front, which remains intact, has three rivet fixing holes. There is the remnant of one hole, to the broken rear of the chape.
