Quartzite pounder, circular in plan and spherical in profile with a flattened base caused by the use of this surface for pounding and perhaps grinding. There are a few hollows around the body of the pounder which may have been deliberately chipped away to make it easier to grip. The pounder has been made out of a natural pebble, utilised for its ideal shape and weight. Once deposited in the soil, the pounder has been stained in the area of the grinding surface from being exposed to pink shale or felspar.
