A cast copper alloy pendant probably dating from the Bronze Age to the Roman period, (2500 BC-AD 410). The object is crescent shaped in plan from the centre of which projects a rectangular tab which expands to form a perforated oval attachment loop. One end of the crescent is rounded, possibly due to a break during antiquity. The object is flat. The outer face is decorated with a series of punched dots around the edge, and a central line of nine punched dots below the perforation with five to six punched dots running diagonally off the central line. An incomplete copper-alloy artefact of uncertain date and function. The object has a straight 'arm' of flattened-oval section, broken at one end, the other end extending into a wider, roughly circular, 'loop'. Dimensions: 37.3mm long, 12.7mm wide (including loop), 3.6mm thick. Weight: 5.41g. The patination and form of this piece are consistent with a Bronze Age to Iron Age date. It is suggested that it may be part of a pendant.

Small piece of Lakeland green slate that has had a hole drilled near the centre of the top edge. The hole is now incomplete and probably broke during manufacture as the slate is only crudely dressed. The marks from the boring show that the hole was an 'hourglass' hole. It may have been intended as one of a series of drilled objects to be used on a necklace, bracelet or similar. Date is uncertain (c2500BC-c800BC) but Castlerigg circle is in the vicinity so a Bronze Age date seems likely. Measures 18.5x12.5x4mm. Weighs 1.2 grms.

Late Bronze Age gold pendant: one end of a slightly bent round-sectioned shank has been hammered into a D-sectioned loop, while the other expands into a conical terminal on which another object may have swivelled. Formerly described as probably Roman, it has been reassigned, by Caroline Barton and Ben Roberts of the British Museum, to the Late Bronze Age on the basis of its similarity to a copper alloy example in the Boughton Malherbe (Kent) hoard (PAS KENT-15A293). Length 34mm. Width of loop 5.5mm. Diameter of shank 2 - 1.5mm. Diameter of terminal 3mm. Weight 1.89g. 9th century BC.

TREASURE CASE 2005 T421 A rare gold pendant, dating to the Midle Bronze Age. Biconical pendant made using narrow, c-sectioned gold strip wound spirally. The piece tapers to each end, having its maximum diameter across the mid-section. One end is broken off (missing) and there is slight compression at this end. An eyelet for suspension is placed centrally at the thickest part and this appears to be of the same c-sectioned strip. The hollow pendant was plugged with dirt at the time of inspection.
