Two near complete cast copper alloy axehead mould halves of Middle Bronze Age date (c. 1500-1200 BC). Half one Description: This half is in one piece and is substantially complete, apart from a section at the blade end of the mould (where it is thinnest), showing some relatively recent damage with bright green corrosion. Middle Bronze Age bronze mould for casting palstaves of Group III, Low Flanged Type of Taunton Metalworking Industry and probably dated to c. 1400 - 1200BC The mould is represented by one valve of the pair, with a fragment missing from its base (blade end) (with a length of 197mm and a weight of 510.8g). An incomplete copper-alloy Middle Bronze Age palstave mould consisting of one half of the mould dating to the period c.1500-1300 BC. The mould varies in thickness it is 9.9mm thick at the funnel, the walls are 13.4mm wide at the loop and the walls taper in width to a minimum width of 6.85mm at the blade. The mould is 182mm in length and has a maximum width of 70.85mm at the blade. The front face is decorated with a raised shield and central vertical rib. A copper alloy Middle Bronze Age palstave mould formed of two interlocking halves (i.e. bivalve) was found on the 25th of February 2017. No other objects or details of the find context were reported. The two halves (valves) of the palstave mould are described separately below and have been labelled and referred to as 'Part A' and 'Part B' throughout. A cast copper-alloy single valve from a two-piece Late Bronze Age socketed axe mould. Signs of corrosion are visible on the interior and exterior surfaces, and where visible through the dark green patina the metal beneath has a very silvery appearance perhaps indicative of a high tin or lead content in the alloy. A complete single bronze valve from a two-piece looped palstave mould of Middle Bronze Age date. The object shows some signs of pitting and corrosion on the exterior surface, which has a dark green patina, and on the interior is blackened. The interior has at one end a semi-circular casting sprue that is slightly globular in form to enable the molten metal to be poured into the mould.
