A piece of copper metal working debris. A small irregularly shaped fragment of solidified copper slag. The surface is lumpy and uneven with one side flatter than the other, which may indicate that the molten slag solidified onto a flat surface. Both faces are corroded with dark and lighter green verdigris generally present. The maximum dimensions are 27.3 by 23.4 across by 7.9mm thick, and it weighs 12.7 grams. The smelting of copper in rural locations is likely to be indicative of Bronze Age activity (and an early Bronze age axehead [PUBLIC-D25B73] was found quite close to this…

A fragment of a cast copper alloy ingot or 'cake' possibly dating from the Bronze Age period (c. 2100-1500 BC). The object is irregular in plan and curved in profile with one smooth concave face and a rough uneven outer convex face. The outer face is rough and pitted. The edges of the object are uneven and rough but with an even patina due to breaks during antiquity. The object has a light green patina and is probably the result of metal working. The colour, texture, shape and formation of the ingot suggests that it may date from the Bronze age period, however without metallurgical…
