A fragment of late Bronze Age plate scrap (ingot). C. 1000 - 800 BC. The fragment has a smooth flat inside surface with a slightly curved inside edge on its horizontal plane. It is also slightly curved across the horizontal inside surface making it very slightly curved in shape. Running vertically on its outside surface from the smallest bottom edge to the widest edge, there is a slightly uneven 5.60 mm raised rib decoration that runs the length of the fragment, with a smaller rib (3.22mm) running horizontally across the thicker rib at 5.22 mm from the fractured lea…

1: A bronze (not analysed) two-edged blade fragment, probably from a sword. Severely bent in an arch to about 70 degrees from vertical. Both of the cutting edges are lost due to corrosion but despite the corrosion it can be seen that the blade is slightly waisted longitudinally. It has a bi-convex lenticular cross-section with very slight concave channels. Fine longitudinal sharpening/cleaning striations can also be seen close to the former blade edges. Both of the end breaks are recent, there are no obvious hammer breakage marks and although the bending of the blade is considera…

A cast copper-alloy fragment of metal working debris which could be Bronze Age or later in date. This fragment measures 45mm by 37mm in size and 21mm in thickness. All faces and are rough to the touch and pitted. The surface is a light powdery blueish green due to active corrosion products. There are also patches of a reddish-brown patina which may be due to iron deposists in the soil adhereing to the copper-alloy.

A jet with shaped channels derived from a careful operation of casting in bronze. The puddled surface presents a blackish-brown patina overlying a thick layer of verdegris. This surface is ovate, some 35x39mm, but with one area of the oval circumference omitted. The underside of this 'puddle' is convex, representing the depression in the clay or other mould material which was filled with molten metal. From this convex surface proceed or depend two symmetrical 'horns' or legs, curving outward and away from each other, ovoid in section and about 13mm in girth, terminating in oblique vert…
