Copper metal working debris. A small irregularly shaped fragment of solidified copper alloy slag. All surfaces are uneven with vesicles, and there are a few small black flecks, possibly of charcoal, incorporated. The fragment is corroded and there are patches of green verdigris generally present.
The maximum length is 65.5mm, width is 30.5mm and thickness is 21.9mm, and it weighs 88.3gms.
A mid-late Bronze age spearhead, recorded as PUBLIC-5374D9, was found quite close to this item.

A probable copper alloy casting sprue or manufacturing waste dating from the late Bronze Age to Modern period. The object is funnel shaped, round and flat on one side with an irregular shaped stem projecting from underneath. It has a dark green patina, with patches of red brown. A small piece of copper alloy metal working debris, of probable Prehistoric date, c. 2100 BC - AD 43. The potential ingot consists of a slightly irregular bar of copper alloy with an oval cross-section, both ends are abraded, but the object appears complete. There are no markings on the surface which has a dark brown patina, where this has been lost it reveals a bright green core.
