A small piece of copper alloy metal working debris, of probable Prehistoric date, c. 2100 BC - AD 43. The potential ingot consists of a slightly irregular bar of copper alloy with an oval cross-section, both ends are abraded, but the object appears complete. There are no markings on the surface which has a dark brown patina, where this has been lost it reveals a bright green core. Dimensions: length 56.1mm; width 11.1mm; thickness 8.5mm; weight 24.02g. Lump or 'cake' of copper alloy metal working debris. The lump has a flat base, mishapen sides and a rounded top with a sub-circular depression roughly in the centre. Such objects are often indicative of Bronze Age metalworking. However, due to their basic form and consequent lack of diagnostic features they are largely undateable, unless found in association with other dateable objects.
