Copper metal working debris. A small irregularly shaped fragment of solidified copper alloy slag. All surfaces are uneven with vesicles, and there are a few small black flecks, possibly of charcoal, incorporated. The fragment is corroded and there are patches of green verdigris generally present. The maximum length is 65.5mm, width is 30.5mm and thickness is 21.9mm, and it weighs 88.3gms. A mid-late Bronze age spearhead, recorded as PUBLIC-5374D9, was found quite close to this item. The smelting of copper in rural locations may be indicative of Bronze Age activity, alth…

A medium-sized lump of casting waste of possibly Bronze Age date, c. 1500-800 BC. It is heavily corroded and of highly irregular form. Preserved in relatively poor condition, it measures 38.16mm long down its longest axis, 28.05mm wide, and weighs 39.9g. This piece of waste was found in the same vicinity as SF-3CEE7A, though due to the undiagnostic nature of metalworking debris in general it is uncertain whether they are associated.

A fragment of a cast copper alloy ingot or 'cake' possibly dating from the Bronze Age period (c. 2100-1500 BC). The object is irregular in plan and curved in profile with one smooth concave face and a rough uneven outer convex face. The outer face is rough and pitted. The edges of the object are uneven and rough but with an even patina due to breaks during antiquity. The object has a light green patina and is probably the result of metal working. The colour, texture, shape and formation of the ingot suggests that it may date from the Bronze age period, however without metallurgical…
