Two pieces of copper metal working debris. Both are small irregularly shaped fragments of solidified copper slag. All surfaces are uneven with vesicles and small black flecks of charcoal & some shiny gold & silver coloured flecks incorporated. Both fragments are corroded with patches of green verdigris, and red corrosion is generally present. The maximum dimensions of the individual fragments are 37.4 by 19.7 by 10.1mm and 30.5 by 22.3 by 10.8mm, and together they weigh 23.0 grams The smelting of copper in rural locations is likely to be indicative of Bronze Age activity (an…
