A Late Bronze Age 1250 BC - 750 BC copper-alloy socketed gouge. This gouge is sub-rectangular in cross-section at the top and 'C'-shaped in cross-section at the bottom. It tapers slightly from the top towards the bottom. The top of the socket has a thickened mouth collar which has a decorative bead beneath it. Two vertical casting seams are present. The purple colour may be associated with alloys with alot of tin within them or a enriched tin surface. Width across tip 15.68mm, Width across mouth19.90mm
