Late Bronze Age cast copper alloy socketed gouge, dating from 1000 to 800BC. The gouge is rectangular in plan, measuring 73.11mm in length. It is sub-rectangular in profile. It has a circular cross section at the socketed end with an external diameter of 16.33mm and an internal diameter of 11.37mm. The mouth of the socket expands slightly outwards. Copper alloy Bronze Age gouge found as a single find. It has a circular mouth and a flat top, the mouth and socket are damaged. There is also damage or wear on the gouge furrow, largely caused by bronze disease but also faint striations can be seen in the furrow, possibly indicating sharpening. The gouge survives in a very good condition and much of the well-finished original surface still survives. An incomplete cast copper alloy socketed gouge of Late Bronze Age date (c. 1150 BC – c. 800 BC). Length: 76.2mm; width: 17.0mm and 13,4mm thick. Weight: 38.51g. The gouge is sub-rectangular in plan. It originally had a circular mouth with a diameter of 17.0mm. However, although the diameter can be measured accurately, the mouth is now damaged and incomplete. This damage may be old. From the plain mouth, the body of the gouge tapers slightly from the mouth towards the cutting edge to a minimum width of 13.2mm. It then flares so that the width of the cutting edge is 14.4mm. A very worn and corroded, incomplete cast copper-alloy object, probably a gouge of Bronze Age. The artefact is sub-rectangular in shape and a shallow U-shaped in cross-section at one end, becoming circular at the other. One end is open (socketed) and there is a recess extending from this end into the body of the object which has a dark orange-brown mineralisation within the socket similar to DOR-FD5EF4 on this database. A fragment of a ate Bronze Age copper-alloy socketed gouge. The piece represents the distal end of the implement, the upper part having been lost in antiquity. An irregular break marks the top of the tubular upper end of the implement, and a groove tapers upwards from the rounded blade, creating a C-shaped cross section in the lower part.

Late Bronze Age socketed gouge, probably of Ewart Park metalworking, corresponding to Needham's (1996) Period 7, and dated to c. 950 - 750BC The socketed gouge is near-complete, with some peripheral damage around the mouth and blade (with a surviving length of 77.2mm and a weight of 50.5g). A copper alloy socketed gouge dating to the Late Bronze Age betweem c. 1150 and c. 800 BC. The gouge has a hollow socket, circular in section, which narrows to form a flaring and curved blade edge. The gouge is in good condition with an even green patina. The socketed end is 17mm in diameter. The gouge is 92mm long, and the flared blade end is 14mm wide. Copper alloy socketed gouge. The mouth of the socket is circular and there is some damage to it. The socket is empty. The gouge tapers towards the cutting edge and has a gently curved sectioned furrow. There is no sign of wear in the furrow, but there is some damage or wear at the working edge. The edge is flattened. Along each side, running longitudinally is a casting line, the sprues of which have been trimmed.
