A fragment of a ate Bronze Age copper-alloy socketed gouge. The piece represents the distal end of the implement, the upper part having been lost in antiquity. An irregular break marks the top of the tubular upper end of the implement, and a groove tapers upwards from the rounded blade, creating a C-shaped cross section in the lower part.

A Late Bronze Age 1250 BC - 750 BC copper-alloy socketed gouge. This gouge is sub-rectangular in cross-section at the top and 'C'-shaped in cross-section at the bottom. It tapers slightly from the top towards the bottom. The top of the socket has a thickened mouth collar which has a decorative bead beneath it. Two vertical casting seams are present. The purple colour may be associated with alloys with alot of tin within them or a enriched tin surface. Width across tip 15.68mm, Width across mouth19.90mm

An incomplete copper alloy socketed gouge of late Bronze Age date, c.1100 - 650 BC. The remaining portion is a length of the hollow socket with a tapered U-shaped blade terminal to one end. The opposite end terminates in a worn break. The socket is circular with an exterior diameter of 16.4mm, interior diameter of 11.5mm and is 21.3mm deep. Incomplete cast copper alloy socketed gouge, rectangular in plan, lozenge-shaped in profile with a circular socket in section, with faint vertical striations preserved in the groove which are probably remnants of use (Matt Knight pers comm). An incomplete cast copper-alloy fragment originating from a probable Ewart Park socketed gouge of Late Bronze Age date, c. 1000-800 BC. Only the lower edge of the gouge survives, consisting the working end of the object, with almost all of its upper socketed section broken away in old damage. It is circular in section, tapering to form a chisel-like edge with a broadly 'V' shaped deep recess in one side. Casting seams are visible on both sides of the object, though these are now somewhat eroded. Preserved in fair condition with an even greenish patina, it survives to a length of 33.31…

A fragment of a copper alloy late Bronze Age socketed gouge. Only the tip of the blade end survives. This is crescent-shaped in cross-section, narrowing towards the outer blade end and expanding at the broken inner socket end. A nearly complete cast copper-alloy socketed gouge dating to c. 1000 to 650 BC. The gouge is oval in cross section and narrows from the base to the tip. On both sides are visible small ribs, residue of the casting process. The tip of the object is thinner than the body and is U-shape in cross section with a central groove that is 33 mm in length and narrows down through the body, disappearing before reaching the base.
