Late Bronze Age cast copper alloy socketed gouge, dating from 1000 to 800BC. The gouge is rectangular in plan, measuring 73.11mm in length. It is sub-rectangular in profile. It has a circular cross section at the socketed end with an external diameter of 16.33mm and an internal diameter of 11.37mm. The mouth of the socket expands slightly outwards. The external diameter decreases to 14.45mm below the mouth. A bronze gouge fragment of a late Bronze Age gouge, only the blade end survives and the rest is missing due to old breaks. The blade is slightly expanded and assymetrical. Patinated a deep medium-dark brown. There is a small area of recent damage and a groove at the blade edge with limited green corrosion products.
