A Bronze Age copper alloy gouge dating to 1500-800 BC, Middle to Late Bronze Age. The chisel is sub rectangular in plan, tapering slightly into the cutting edge and is circular in cross section, becoming crescentic towards the cutting edge. The opposite end is socketed with a circular mouth and an expanded collar on the outside. A prominent longitudinal casting seam is extant on either lateral edge. A nearly complete cast copper-alloy socketed gouge dating to c. 1000 to 650 BC. The gouge is oval in cross ssection and narrows from the base to the tip. On both sides are visible small ribs, residue of the casting process. The tip of the object is thinner than the body and is U-shape in cross section with a central groove that is 6,50mm in length and narrows down through the body, disappearing before reaching the base. A nearly complete cast copper-alloy socketed gouge dating to c. 1000 to 650 BC. It is 47.91mm in length and 13.40mm in diameter at its greatest. The socketed end of the gouge has a circular section and an internal diameter of 10.43 mm. The gouge tapers down its length into a C-shaped section, with a furrow widening to c9mm down the length starting c12.50mm from the open socket. Casting seams can be seen on both sides of the gouge. A copper alloy gouge most probably from the Late Bronze Age dating to the period c. 1000 - 650BC. The mouth is circular and is now filled with earth. The metal is of uneven thickness around the mouth. There is one casting seams running down each side. The shaft tapers before flaring towards a semi-circular blade. The gouge furrow is triangular and the edge of the blade is rounded. The edge of the blade and part of the gouge furrow are chipped and shows a light green corrosion. The gouge has a dark green patina with brown patination visible in the furrow and along the casting seams. …
