Part of a cast copper alloy, socketed gouge, probably dating from late Bronze Age date, about 1000 - 650 BC. The remaining portion consists of a short length of the socket and the U shaped blade. The interior of the socket is circular and 9.9mm deep; the exterior is sub-rectangular. The blade tapers from the socket to a rounded cutting edge. The gouge is concave on one face and convex on the other. It has a dark green patina and the breaks are very abraded. It is 39.9mm long, 14.1mm wide and 13.9mm thick. It weighs 22.8gm.
