An incomplete copper alloy Bronze Age socketed gouge, c.950-750 BC. The remaining portion is a short length of the socket with a tapered U-shaped blade. The socket is oval in cross section with low ridges running down each side, visible for the whole length of the object on both sides, which are the remains of casting flashes. A mouth fragment from a late Bronze Age copper-alloy possible socketed gouge (c. 1000 BC-c. 800 BC). This fragment is sub-rectangular in plan and is curved when viewed from above. Considering the curvature of the mouth it was probably circular when complete. The top has a horizontal multiple (triple) mouth moulding, one moulding forming a rim to the mouth and two below. An incomplete Late Bronze Age copper-alloy socketed gouge (c. 1000 BC-c. 800 BC ). This gouge is circular in cross-section at the top and 'C'-shaped in cross-section at the bottom. It tapers slightly from the top towards the bottom. The top of the socket has a thickened mouth collar. The cutting edge is missing due to a break. A fragment of a Late Bronze Age copper-alloy socketed gouge (1150 BC-800 BC). The socket is missing due to a break. The blade is C-shaped in cross-section throughout its length and is semi-circular in cross-section at the break. In plan, each side tapers to a curved cutting edge. At the top, the base of the socket can be seen. This is sub-circular in plan with a maximum diameter of 4.9mm and a maximum depth of 3.5mm. This gouge is corroded to mid-green and is pitted overall. An incomplete Bronze Age cast copper-alloy socketed gouge (c. 1150 BC-c. 800 BC). This is the lower part including the cutting edge. It is 'C'-shaped in cross-section and has a pronounced furrow throughout its length on the rear face. In plan, the sides taper inwards from the break at the top to the cutting edge at the bottom. The distance between the base of the socket and the base of the cutting edge is about 21.75mm. On the rear face, just below the break, there is a circular hole, about 2.32mm in diameter. A fragment of a cast copper alloy socketed gouge of Late Bronze Age date (c. 1150 BC-c. 800 BC). The fragment is the lower part and includes a small portion of the socket at the top and the cutting edge at the bottom. The break at the top is old and abraded. The object is mainly corroded and in poor condition. However where a patina has survived, it is matt mid-brown colour. 50.2 x 14.9 x 11.7mm. Weight: 27.56g.

An incomplete cast copper alloy socketed gouge of Late Bronze Age date (c. 1150 BC – c. 800 BC). Length: 76.2mm; width: 17.0mm and 13,4mm thick. Weight: 38.51g. The gouge is sub-rectangular in plan. It originally had a circular mouth with a diameter of 17.0mm. However, although the diameter can be measured accurately, the mouth is now damaged and incomplete. This damage may be old. From the plain mouth, the body of the gouge tapers slightly from the mouth towards the cutting edge to a minimum width of 13.2mm. It then flares so that the width of the cutting edge is 14.4mm. A socketed gouge with circular mouth which narrows to a body which is circular in section, and flares widely and flattens to form a deep almost U-shaped scoop at the blade. There does not appear to be any wear and the casting seams although well finished are un-worn. Part of a hoard of eleven implements.
