Flint flake that is almost rectangular in plan, with sub-parallel lateral margins, and lozenge-shaped in section, with two parallel dorsal ridges. The flake seems to have snapped along a natural facet at the distal end of the flint, creating a right angle to the right edge of the blade. The right edge and the distal end seem to have been prepared for more reworking, but not reworked as such (Alison Roberts, Ashmolean Museum, pers comm). The distal end is plano-convex in profile suggesting that the flake may have used as some sort of planing tool, and there is evidence of usewear in the…

A complete knapped flint miscellaneous retouched flake with a notch on the right side, probably dating to the Late Bronze Age, between 1150 – 800 BC (length: 27mm; width: 19mm; thickness: 4mm; weight: 2.3g). On the ventral side of the artefact, there is a bulb of percussion, with radial scars extending outwards from an incomplete eraillure scar, as well as multiple radiating ripples or ‘lunettes’ below and running down the length of the flake towards the distal end. On the dorsal side, there are two arrises with small amounts of retouch on the left side. As mentioned above, t…

Retouched waste flake of Bronze Age date. This flake has been attributed to the Bronze Age as it has apparently been struck from the same nodue of flint as the side scraper ESS-7E6F72; both pieces of flint are of the same colouration, and have the same cortex on part of their surfaces. This waste flake is sub-rectangular in plan with a trapezoid cross section. There is evidence of platform preporation. There are two parallel ridges on the dorsal surfacce, and impact ripples where previous flakes have been removed - however approximately one third of the dorsal surface is covered in a n…
