Object type: DISCOIDAL KNIFE
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Norfolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Small sub-oval discoidal knife, made from a primary flake, the dorsal face retains a central patch of thin yellowish to white cortex, all other surfaces (apart from the platform) are modified by invasive direct percussion, the ventral face appears to have no original surface of the “blank” flake this was made from extant; the flakes neatly overlap at the centre, there is a linear flaw to this face, the flake scars stop dead either side of this. The flint is unpatinated semi-translucent brown/grey.
Early Bronze Age, 2,350 to 1,500 BC.
