A very large flint waste flake, utilised with the addition of a scraping edge, uncertain date, possibly late Bronze Age or Iron Age c.1000 - 1 BC.
Description: The flake is a primary removal and very large and irregularly shaped but has roughly five sides in plan. The dorsal face has substantial cortex remaining and uneven poorly formed flaking. Along the right edge half way up there is some crushing retouch intended to blunt the edge. A large flake of flint debitage of like Bronze Age - Early Iron Age date c. 1000-1BC
The flake is roughly kidney shape with heavily intrusive covering stepped flaking across the dorsal side with a seciton of cortex at the distal (top) end. The flaking ok the dorsal side and the bulb of percussion on the ventral side all show substantial discoidal fractures indicating the use of hard hammer technology. The flint is mostly a light brown/orange colour.
Measurements: 43.76mm long, 35.28mm wide, 9.12mm thick and 16.71g in weight

A complete flint thumbnail scraper of probably Early Bronze Age date (2400-1000 BC). The lithic is sub-ovate in profile and plano-convex in profile. The dorsal surface has the predominant negative scars with corresponding negative arrises. The proximal edge has been abruptly blunted, all other edges contain partial parallel flaking and semi-abrupt retouch. The flint is mid-grey in colour with cream inclusions throughout.
29.8mm long, 26.2mm wide , 7.45mm thick and weighs 5.52grams.
