A flint burin of probable later bronze age date, c. 1600-800 BC. A triangular tertiary flake of grey-brown flint, sub-trapezoidal in cross section and curving slightly ventrally into the distal end. A number of subparallel removal scars are present on the dorsal face, with one struck from a parallel platform to the others and overall flake removal. At the proximal end a striking platform and bulb of percussion survive with bulbar scar.
Dimensions: length 36.4mm; width 16.3mm; thickness 6.6mm; weight 4.42g.
Given its form, the flake would have been well suited as an engraving too…
