Part of a polished stone archer's wristguard or 'bowman's bracer'. The guard has a flattish underside and slightly convex upper side with rounded edges, and is broken at both ends, possibly as a result of plough damage. One complete drilled circular hole is extant at one end, aligned centrally, and two similar holes partially survive either side of it on the broken end of the guard. Thus originally the guard would have had three holes in a transverse line towards each end. A complete Early Bronze Age stone arm guard (bracer) dating to circa 2300-2100 BC. Broadly rectangular in plan in section it has polished bevelled edges. At either end are located central circular drilled apertures to enable fixing to the arm. The faces of the stone have been smoothed. One end is slightly wider than the other. Broadly linear striations on both faces are the result of the bow having snapped-back during firing. A possible wrist guard or bracer made from bone. In plan it is rectangular and in section it is a slight crescent. One terminal has three circular holes in a row measuring 3.9mm diameter. This terminal has slightly rounded corners and the edge is slightly bevelled on the upper surface and straight and flat on the edge. The opposite terminal is a cut edge, which has a cut mark alongside it. The surface of the guard has a well developed shiny patina.
