Object type: SEAL MATRIX
Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: Warwickshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
An incomplete, extremely worn, Medieval copper alloy seal matrix dating to c. AD 1200-1400. The seal is a pointed oval or vessica shape and the seal is generally flat. On the reverse, there are the remains of a central raised rib and part of the suspension loop. Due to ancient breakages and damage, the image on the seal is unknown and parts of the legend are missing, such as from 2 o'clock to 3 o'clock and from 10 o'clock to 12 o'clock. The inscription seems to be illegible due to this damage.
