Lead tank fragment. A substantial offcut from the wall of a cylindrical lead tank or vessel, with a V-shaped chamfered rim with a broad [9.8mm] cabled moulding projecting from its outer side, passing 11.5-13mm below the top of the rim. The fragment bears two long cut edges, one of which is angled to converge with the other at the lower end. If the outer cordon were horizontal, this would imply the reduction of the vessel wall in diagonal or angled strips. An incomplete panel of a decorated Roman lead tank or font with a phallic motif. The tank measures c. 1005mm in length and 300mm in height. The panel was discovered rolled and folded and has subsequently been unfolded by the finder. The surviving unrolled section consists of one incomplete side formed of three fragments: Fragment A, measuring 500mm in length and 300mm in height, Fragment B, measuring 150mm in length and 283mm in height and Fragment C measuring 300mm in length and 290mm in height. Late Roman circular based decorated lead tank, found cut into pieces and folded into a hole with a lead spout, and excavated professionally. The excavation The full excavation report, (Graham 2018), including drawings of the pieces in situ, is available from the Somerset Historic Environment Record. Excavation revealed that the hole appears to have been open for very little time suggesting it was dug for this deposition and refilled rapidly. Two fragments of a Roman lead font. The panels are both flat roughly rectangular panels, clearly from the same original tank, which fit together at the rim and again towards the bottom. Both panels have a slightly expanded rim decorated with a row of incised chevrons, and one of the panels has a moulded vertical double-cable motif. The upper edges of the rims of the panels show a series of linear marks made by a chisel as the initial strikes to split the tank were made from above.
