An incomplete lead Powder Measure of Post-Medieval date (AD 1600-1700). The object is composed of a now flattened and distorted, conical sheet cylindrical sheet. the base and loops are missing and at the opposing end the rim is thickened.  Height: 24.89mm, Width: 33.79mm, Thickness: 8.90mm, Weight: 17.3g The metal is cream in colour with a slightly pitted patina. According to Courtney (1988), powder flask nozzles and caps are among the most common remains encountered on Civil War sites. A complete Post Medieval lead cap which would seal a powder carrier, dating to c. AD 1600-1700. The cap had been squashed resulting in significant deformation and was straightened by the finder before photographing. These are common finds from Civil War sites and the complete holder would have been attached to the bandolier via a cord running through two loops on the cap (Courtney 1988, 2).
