Circular complete lead pot mend with some residual pot still visible in the central groove. The pottery appears to be of sandy orange fabric.
Potmends of this form are found in both Roman and Medieval periods, as a common way to repair broken pottery, and so accurate dating is problematic.

Age uncertain. Lead alloy, very crudely cast, probable fair size pot mend. Length 36.9mm, Width 36.5mm, Thickness 21.5mm, Diameter 36.9mm, Weight 87g. Oval in shape with slightly convex upper surface but a concave lower surface due to the metal contracting upon cooling down when cast. Unfortunately, no ceramic material left intact but from a vessel with fairly thick walls 10-11mm. Grey patina with surface corrosion with rusty brown deposits.

An extraordinary lead pot mend with pottery sherd. The latter, a greyware shoulder and neck of, probably, a jar, with the top of the rim missing, is entirely enclosed in a lead sheet on the outside and against one break. Apparently a drastic repair involving the clumsy replacement of a length of rim. Diameter not measurable. Weight 51g.
