Part of the body and the base of the handle of a large Medieval glazed pitcher dating to the 12th century. The piece has a high fired buff to pale orange fabric with remains of olive green glaze on the outside. The applied rod handle is circular in cross section, flattened and squeezed towards the base with a thumb impression, now partly missing. The outer face of the handle is slashed down the entire front and around the squashed base. The slashes run in two rows down the handle, angling downwards form the centre. A fragment of a Medieval ceramic coarse ware bung hole pitcher, jug or cistern (c. 1350-c. 1450).
This fragment, apparently from a coarse ware vessel, consists of a body sherd with a bung hole.
Outer surface: Munsell Color 7.5YR 7/6
Beneath the surface: Munsell Color 2.5YR 5/6
Core: Munsell Color 2.5YR 6/0
When found the breaks were all abraded. However, since discovery the find has been broken by the finder, hence the fresh break.
Length: 93.1mm; width: 61.7mm; thickness: 20.2mm. Weight: 92.31g.

1 sherd of reduced fabric with coarse flint and rounded quartz sand temper. The surface is oxidised red-brown. It is a hand-made cylindrical vessel foot. The stub of the pot base remains at one side. The walls of the foot are thick. The hole is circular and regular. Hole diameter:14.66mm. Wall thickness:10.92mm
