Part of a small Norwich silver plate which may have been a paten. The assay marks on the reverse in the middle of the item comprise two shield-shaped stamps. The first shield has a rounded base and bears the arms of Norwich (a triple-towered castle in chief a lion passant guardant in base). The second shield is broken across the base and bears an orb, the makers mark for William Cobbold. This is Cobbold's second mark; the first being an orb on a lozenge.
