Silver possible necklace component. A small vessel-shaped object made of two identical pressed metal halves of thickness 0.2mm, with a tiny [diameter 3.3mm] ring passing through a small loop on either shoulder. The heart-shaped body of the ‘vessel’ bears opposed curls arranged as a smaller heart shape enclosing other lines in low relief; the neck of the vessel has three horizontal ribs with the attachment rings flanking them and it is capped by a flattened spherical terminal. Copper alloy possible necklace component. An eccentric object probably made in a craft tradition, probably using small items of workshop scrap. These comprise a long narrow tightly coiled spring retained between two sub-rectangular sides, each formed from a straight cabled or twisted strip of wire [diameter 1.1mm] which is bent at either end, and with an oval drawn wire loop of length 8mm at either end. Description: An enamelled gold pendant of four parts (obverse, reverse, two removable pins), link, suspension link in the form of a hand (with pin) and chain. The assemblage, as submitted for investigation, numbers eight pieces. The link was purportedly broken in the process of removing the assemblage from the ground and is presently stored separately. A fragment of gold jewellery, probably of Roman date. c.1st to 3rd century AD. Description: The fragment consists of a loop of filigree, circular in section, that is now broken at one end. The surviving part forms a straight section that terminates in an ovoid loop. This straight section is decorated with granulation, in the form of two pairs of spheres at each end and five in the centre. Date uncertain, but probably a post-medieval to modern (c.1750-1900) copper-alloy necklace ornament or chain link, cast in the shape of a crescent moon or a C. Decorated with roundels of gems or glass, only one glass inset survives, which gradually become smaller as the item tapers to a point. An enamelled gold barrel-shaped link of late 18th to early 19th Century dating. This gold link bears traces of blue, green and white enamel forming a pattern of white dots in the centre flanked by a blue band and a wreath in green. A possible fragment of a loop in loop necklace of Roman date. The object has a circular sectioned shaft with raised mouldings to either end. The upper moulding consists of five circumferential band, the central one of which is thicker than the rest, and an integral loop projects from the top. The lower moulding has four evenly spaced bands and the base is hollow though an integral interior bar is present.
