An incomplete copper alloy, zoomorphic Manicure set or Chatelaine of Roman date (AD 43-200). The object is composed of a Cockerel shaped body, with a hollow body, which is piriform in plan. The tail is missing, leaving only a short upward projecting spur, due to an old, abraded break. The neck is curved and expands to form the lozenge shaped head, with an upper projecting undulating comb, and flanked by downward projecting wattles, with left of which is missing due to an old, abraded break. Incomplete Late post medieval (18th- early 20th century) bone manicure set with three implements supported on an iron pivot pin. The three implements are supported between two subrectangular bone arms there is a bone spacer at one end that seperates the arms, an iron pin holds all three piece in place. At the other end there is the pivot point for the implements. The spoon implement has broken at the neck point and split lengthways, the file remains complete, with iron file insert in place. A cast copper-alloy, zoomorphic Roman manicure set (chatelaine) in the shape of a cockerel, dating from the first or second century AD. The body of the manicure set is hollow and roughly piriform in plan, rounded at the front and squared off at the back. The curved tail feathers are flat and the neck and slightly flattened head are also solid. There is an enamelled eye on each side of the head formed by a circle of red enamel with a blue central dot. Roman enamelled cast copper alloy chatelaine pendant hanger - the toilet implements are missing. Probably 2nd century. The main body of the chatelaine is rectangular - one surface is decorated with two rows of zig-zag lines forming four rows of triangular cells - the downward pointing triangles (upper rows) have traces of red enamel, and the upward pointing triangles (bottom rows) have blue enamel.
