13th-17th Century. Copper alloy, cast, fair size rim and handle fragment of a cooking receptacle - probably from a skillet. Truncated length 66.8mm, Truncated width 37.1mm, Truncated thickness 21.3mm, Weight 81.3g. This rim and broken handle fragment is relatively thick and heavy with a curvature indicating a smaller skillet like vessel rather than a cauldron. The broken base of the handle is sub-trapezoidal in section with a vertical hole right through the handle - the weak point where the fracture occured. There is a dark green patina - smooth on the inside surface but rough 'matt' …

Fragment of folded over cast copper alloy. It is thin but part of a cast item, possibly a large cooking vessel as it has traces of sooting. It is an irregular shape and bent with a tear half way down the centre and two irregular shaped pieces cemented to one side flanking the tear. It is 14.9mm by 14.9mm by 0.8mm; it weighs 4.58 grams.
Large cast copper alloy cooking vessels were in widespread use from c.1250-1700 AD after which they were replaced by iron. However due to the smallness and broken nature of this fragment it is hard to definitvely rule oout it being part of some ot…

Rim fragment from late-12th to 13th century cooking pot. Mid orange fabric with abundent, c.25%, small to medium flint temper. It has a wide rim that has broken at the join with the wall making the angle of the join unclear. The rim appears to have projected down at c.80 degrees with a rolled over, thickened upper edge with a flat top and a semi-circular outer edge . It is too small to accurately estimate the original diameter. The breaks are very abraded. 17.71 grams.
