A slightly chipped contemporary copy of a silver siliqua of Emperor Valens (AD 364- 378) date of issue of prototype is from March 364 to August 367 (Reece Period 19). Obverse: D N VALEN-S P F AVG, pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed right. Reverse: VOT V MVLT X in laurel wreath. Minmark: // [L]VG. The reverse has two large chips; on the right side after LVT and on the bottom left where the L should be in LVG. These reveal a copper-alloy core which shows it is a contemporary copy.
