A complete lead spindle whorl of medieval to Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1200 - 1800. Walton Rogers Form C. The spindle whorl is bi-conical with a central perforation running through it. Both surfaces have moulded decorated featuring irregularly spaced raised lines radiating from the perforation. Two to three raised pellets are present within each resulting cell. The metal has a light grey/brown patina and is worn. The spindle whorl is 29.1mm in diameter, 11.3mm thick and weighs 36.6g. A complete copper-alloy button and loop fastener of Roman date, c.AD 43-200. Wild Class III. The head is pointed ovate with a central raised circular boss within a deep circumferential recess. The pointed terminal also has a raised lenticular moulding. An integral shank extends down from the reverse of the boss and bends at 90 degrees before splitting in to two arms, and forming a loop. The blade is a pointed leaf shape, tapering gently from rounded shoulders to a narrow bifurcated terminal. The bow is rectangular in section, tapering to a narrower integral spring with only one turn remaining.
