Lead possible ingot. A small oval plano-convex casting with hollows and a square pit in its upper side as cast, probably in an open mould or a small hollow. The pit on the flat side might show where a nail shank has been used to help extract the object. The convex surface bears the impressions of a fine sand, which may hint at production in the course of more extensive works using a sand bed for casting. Patinated. The mass might alternatively permit this object to have served as a weight, representing 10 units of 4.43gms, respecting the favoured system of measurement for silver bullio…

Copper alloy and iron probable cuff link fragment. A probably die stamped discoid concavo-convex front from a link or button, with a flat display face bearing finely incised detail comprising a central annulet, a ring of closely spaced short radial lines, and a circle enclosing them. These are separated by a plain zone from an intermittently indented edge to the field and a stepped rim from which the rest stands proud. The decoration may have been executed with the aid of a hand-powered machine. Ferrous corrosion in the hollow back, bedded in a buff coloured fixative, probably represen…
