Silver coin. An uncertain denomination, possibly a sixpence or a shilling, of James I (1603-1625). The mintmark, however (martlet no. 94) would be expected on a coin of 1560-1561 and is unlisted for the reign of James I, and might point to use of an old die. The legends also suggest irregularity in striking. Worn and creased, if not formerly folded.
Obverse description: [bust right]; mintmark martlet (94).
Obverse inscription: IACO[--].D.G. MAG.'BRIT[--]A.'ET:HIB REX
Reverse description: Possibly shield of Arms, with diagonal scratches over it; mintmark martlet (94).
