A small cast flat-sided disc, probably cut to its final shape, with a central drilled hole of diameter 2mm, surrounded on one side by four symmetrically disposed blind pits of slightly smaller diameter. This might have functioned as a mount, or perhaps as the separate head of a pin. A pressed metal domed thimble with a broad plain basal zone with faint circumferential lines on it, with its upper wall occupied by finely machine-stamped pits which appear as if ascending the wall in vertical rows. The top is now smooth and stained pale grey, possibly indicating a fixative for a separate cap. Lightly squashed and frayed at the base. Narrow cast foot of a small bow brooch, with a rounded end to a narrow plate with central aris and with a long hollow behind perhaps arising from mis-casting or from attachment of a separately made catch plate. A V-shaped stop in bold relief marks the lower part of a convex mid bow. Possibly from a crossbow brooch of Mackreth type CR 2.d [cf. pl. 136 no. 10341].
