Ceramic jack. Moulded and elongated cube with two grooves dividing each of its longer sides producing a corrugated effect, and with flat ends. The white fabric, resembling a pipeclay, bears a transparent glaze. Abraded. Jacks were used in games of manual dexterity, in which a number would be tossed in the air, and caught on the back of the hand. Suggested date: post-Medieval to Modern, 1875-1950.
