Pottery Rimsherd. Pale sandy grey fabric; Greyware. The markedly flared rim of a wide bowl of estimated diameter 310mm. Though perhaps resembling a mortarium in its form, there is no trace of internal grit. Suggested date: Roman, 100-300. Sandra Firth kindly examined this sherd. Length: 97mm, Weight: 71.33gms.

A Roman vessel rim sherd from a large jar, probably Roman. The sherd has a pale grey exterior and dark grey interior. The fabric is hard and the texture is quite hackly. The inclusions include sparse white grains, possibly quartz and very sparse shiny angular inclusions, possibly iron slag. The diameter of the vessel would have been 180mm.

A Roman Amphora handle sherd. The handle is round in section with a slight ridge on the upper surface near the surviving upper junction with the neck. The lower joint to the body does not survive (dimensions L 140mm; W 90mm; T 48mm). The handle is from a large globular olive oil amphora type known as a Dressel 20 (DR 20) produced in the southern Spain/Portugal area at sites clustered around the Guadalquivir river valley.
